Nothing new on the site today, but a reminder to everyone that we are working on building out a freelance roster and that we want to be on your distribution lists for information.

In other news...

  • Rep. Jim McGovern faced protests and criticism surrounding his votes on aid in the Ukrainian conflict. (Telegram and Gazette).
  • The "Beats and Barbecue" festival was held in Worcester on Saturday; the festival kicked off with a showing of The Woman King at Blackstone Valley Cinema De Lux. (T&G)
  • Speaking of arts festivals, Worcester's "stART on the Street" returned after a two year hiatus. The T&G quotes Millbury's Jen O'Connell a few times as she watches Cara Brindisi. (T&G)
  • An invasive insect, the spotted lanternfly, has been discovered in Worcester. The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources requests Massachusetts residents report if said lanternfly is indeed spotted. (MassLive)
  • Taxachusetts will become Refundachusetts soon, and the state has posted a calculator for taxpayers to understand what they may get back from the budget surpluses. (Mass.gov)
  • Millbury High Football defeated Blackstone-Millville/Hopedale 41-8, including three rushing touchdowns from Ryan Gleason. (T&G), Millbury Girls Volleyball beat Shepherd Hill 3-0 (T&G), and Millbury Boys Soccer took their first loss of the season against Valley Tech, 4-1.  (T&G)

Announcements and reminders of note:

  • The Millbury Town Clerk's office will be closed to the public every Tuesday from 11:00am to 2:00pm through November 22 for election-related activities; those with business during those hours are encouraged to call and make an appointment.
  • The town announced the overnight closure of the Municipal Parking Lot for paving and reconstruction beginning on September 19. Those who use the lot are encouraged to use nearby street parking during the work.
